Another dramatic finish saw Frome Collegians secure victory in the final minute as they showed great resolve in completing a league double over Banwell. It was Jake Antell who proved to be the match winner as he scored the all important goal with a powerful header. Collegians had started well and created a couple of good openings but they were stunned when Banwell scored in their first real attack. A stunning strike from the midfield player left Schlesinger helpless in the Collegians goal as a left foot shot from fully 30 yards arrowed into the top corner. The Banwell keeper then produced a wonderful double save to tip James Rustell’s drive on to the crossbar and then somehow managed to block the rebound when a goal seemed certain. With half time approaching Rustell used a decoy run on the left to turn back on his right and fire high past the keeper from the edge of the box. Collegians asserted pressure in the second half as they sought the three points but Banwell looked threatening on the break and they had a number of promising positions. Rustell fired over when well placed and then shot wide. Jake Harringtons drive was well held by the Banwell keeper who then produced another marvellous reflex save when Collegians looked certain to score. With five minutes remaining, Rustell was brought down in the box but the keeper was equal to the spot kick. Matt Sutherland was inches wide as he raced through and then a downward header bounced up and away off the crossbar and it looked as though the game would end in a draw. However, with time almost up, a right wing corner was met by Antell who headed back across the keeper and into the net between angle of post of bar to earn the win.
