Match Reports:
WARMINSTER HIGHBURY U10 A 1-2 FROME COLLEGIANS U10 A
With Collegians games against Peasedown cancelled a tough fixture was arranged against Warminster who currently sit top of the table in the Mid Wilts league. Warminster took the lead in the first minute when a long goal kick caught the Collegians defence out and the ball was lobbed over the keeper. This did not affect Collegians and started to play some excellent football along with superb work rate. Chances were being created with Dan, Tom and Connor putting just wide or being denied by the keeper and Harvey smashing the crossbar from all of 20 yards. Oli and Charlie were working hard in defence and Dylan was solid in the tackle in front of them to keep Warminster at bay and with Matthew doing well in goal they went in 1-0 down at half time. Collegians went out in the second half with great determination to get back in the game and they began to dominate the game with Oli linking well with Harvey on the right and Dylan with Tom on the left side of midfield to cause problems for Warminster with every attack. Aaron replaced Charlie at half time and he got the equaliser when a corner fell to him to smash the ball home from inside the box. This again spurred Collegians on and they soon took the lead when Harvey linked well with Dan and his pass found Connor in the right place to squeeze the ball in to make it 2-1 with minutes to go. Warminster found some urgency with some long distance shots and Matthew had to make his first save of the second half to keep the score in Collegians favour. Chances were still being created by both teams but Collegians saw the game out and all players should be proud of the effort put in to come away with the win.
FROME COLLEGIANS U10 C 1-3 BATH CITY YOUTH
Collegians started slowly and Bath took the lead within the first minute with a well taken header and they soon doubled their lead when hesitation in the box allowed them to score. The midfield of Jacob, Ben, Will and Harvey began to work hard which gave Beth some space to cause Bath problems but they could not stop them getting their third of the game. Collegians had an immediate response and Ben did superb on the right and his cross found Harvey to make it 3-1 just before half time. Collegians came out in the second half and all players worked superbly with Thomas and James both excellent in defence and Will unbeatable in goal making 3 point blank saves. Even though chances were created by both teams neither could find the net and the score remained 3-1 but Collegians again can be proud of their second half effort and work rate.
FROME COLLEGIANS U10 A 4-4 SHEPTON YOUTH U10
This was a hugely entertaining game with both teams creating chances and scoring goals. Shepton took the lead with a fine solo goal but Harvey put Collegians in front with two cracking strikes after good team play. Dylan replaced the injured Charlie early in the game and was making some fine challenges alongside the composed Oli in defence but they could not stop the same player scoring another individual goal to bring Shepton Level. Collegians again went ahead when the superb Tom got his first of the game to send them in 3-2 up at half time but were caught napping when Shepton again drew level immediately after the break. With Dan and Aaron dominant in midfield and Connor lively upfront Collegians continued to create and Tom got his second of the game but the one goal lead was never enough and Shepton got the equaliser with minutes to go to finish the game 4-4.
FROME COLLEGIANS U10 B 1-1 FROME TOWN SPORTS U10 A
This was a close game with both defences coming out on top. Chase was dominant for Collegians at the back with hardly anything getting past him but Sports did take the lead in the first half after a good strike. The Collegians midfield and attack of Aaron, Harvey, Morgan and Cameron were working hard but could not get the goal back before half time. Collegians were asked to up their game in the second half and responded well when Andrew came on for the injured Morgan and he made an immediate impact when he got the equaliser. Collegians continued to push forward but could not find the winner and the game ended 1-1.
FROME COLLEGIANS U10 C 5-2 FROME TOWN SPORTS U10 B
Collegians continued their good form with a convincing win. Andrew opened the scoring before Beth got the second after a great move. Sports got one back but Andrew got his second with well taken free kick. Thomas and James had fine games at the back and Cameron made great penalty save in the first half. Ben and Jacob were working hard in the centre and Will made it 4-1 with a superb solo goal before Sports got another one back, but Andrew had the final say when he got his hat tick to give Collegians the 5-2 win
FROME COLLEGIANS U10 B 2-1 NORTON DRAGONS
This was a close and evenly fought match that could have gone either way with both teams creating a number of chances and it could have been a higher scoring game but both keepers were playing superbly. Norton took the lead with a fine individual goal but Collegians did not let this affect them and came straight back into it when Morgan fired an unstoppable shot past the keeper from outside the box, then Cameron did everything right but was denied by the Norton keepers big toe to keep the scores 1-1 at half time. Collegians proved to be more determined in the second half with Joel and Chase setting a solid base in defence , Aaron battling well in midfield and Dylan pulling the strings beside him they deservedly took the lead when Matthew got a deft touch to place the ball over the keepers head from a good cross to give Collegians the 2-1 win.
FROME COLLEGIANS U10 A 5-0 WELTON ROVERS
Both teams created chances in the first half but the Collegians defence of Oil and Charlie along with their Welton counterparts came out on top to keep the scores 0-0 at half time. Collegians were asked for a reaction in the second half and delivered with a five goal show. Connor grabbed the first when beating the keeper with a one on one then got his and Collegians second with a free kick that gave the keeper no chance. Harvey was beginning to dominate on the right and creating chances and this helped Aaron to fire a shot in that was poached by Dan on the line to make it three. Tom got the goal that his play deserved with a sweet right foot shot then Dan got his second and Collegians fifth with a powerful shot into the bottom corner to round off a fine second half display.
FROME COLLEGIANS U10 C 0-6 WELTON ROVERS
This proved to be a tough game for Collegians as they were up against mostly players from Weltons’ first game with many being unavailable. Will made some fine saves for Collegians and Thomas, Jacob, Beth, Will, Ben, Harvey and Andrew did their best against the stronger opposition but it was not to be as Welton dominated to give them the 6-0 win.
TIMSBURY U10 A 1-1 FROME COLLEGIANS U10 A
This was a closely fought game that could have gone either way but a draw was a fair result in the end. Timsbury just edged the first half but it was Collegians who took the lead when a superb move involving Dan and Harvey ended with Connor beating the keeper from inside the box. This woke Timsbury up so Charlie and Oil were put under pressure at the back and Morgan made some fine saves in goal but this pressure paid off when they got the deserved equaliser just before half time. Collegians came out in the second half with the same determination with Aaron crunching into tackles in midfield and Tom again superb on the left and causing problems. Both teams continued to play good football and create chances but neither could find the breakthrough and the score remained 1-1
TIMSBURY U10 B 1-0 FROME COLLEGIANS U10 B
Again this was a close game that could have gone either way with both teams creating a number of chances. Timsbury took an early lead but Collegians heads did not go down and they kept on battling. Chase and Joel were making some great challenges in defence and with Aaron in midfield just in front of them Timsbury were finding it hard. Skipper Dylan was doing well until he came of injured and Matthew and Morgan were both creating on either flank and linking well with Cameron upfront. The second half was much of the same with chances falling to both teams but both keepers did well and made good saves to keep the score 1-0 to Timsbury .
FROME COLLEGIANS U10 A 5-0 WESTFIELD U10 A
This was a closely fought first half but Collegians went into the break with the advantage after Tom E converted a near post corner with a deft finish. Charlie S S and Oli W were both superb at the back and kept the Westfield frontline quiet. Collegians upped the game in the second half and Aaron W doubled their lead then skipper Dan R made it three from inside the box. Morgan made a couple of superb saves in the second half but it was Collegians who made the most of their chances when good work from Connor G allowed Harvey L to get the fourth, then a deflected Aaron W shot found the net to give Collegians the deserved win.
FROME COLLEGIANS U10 B 2-2 WESTFIELD U10 B
This was an end to end game with both teams creating chances and a draw was fair result. Westfield took the lead when confusion in the Collegians defence allowed the ball to roll over the line but they came straight back into it when Morgan A finished from a near impossible angle, but Westfield struck again near the end of the half to go in 2-1 up. Joel S was making some great challenges at the back and the midfield of Dylan C, Aaron B and Harvey G were working hard and supporting Cameron P upfront and this paid off when Cameron struck the equaliser with only minutes remaining.
FROME COLLEGIANS U10 C 4-3 FROME COLLEGIANS U9
This was a fantastic match played with the right spirit with both teams playing some very attractive attacking football. Will W played well in goal for the under 10's and the hardworking outfield players of Tom S, James M, Jacob D, Will M helped both Bethany P and the outstanding Andrew W grab two goals apiece. For the under 9's Bradley made some great saves including a penalty, Callum and Joel were tackling well in defence, Joshua and Arthur were working hard in midfield and this allowed the non-stop Archie to score twice and the tricky Luca once but the under 10's ran out 4-3 winners.
2007/2008 SEASON
Match Reports:
FROME COLLEGIANS U9'S A 6-0 NORTON DRAGONS U9'S
Collegians edged the opening of this game but had to be patient to get their first goal and this came when Connor G found the bottom corner from a clever free kick and then quickly got his second from a close range finish. Oli W and Charlie S S were both assured and comfortable in defence with both helping to get Collegians attacks going. Skipper Dan R was dominant in the centre alongside Harvey L and this was helped by Tom E and Matt P on either flank who were both threats throughout the game. Collegians upped the tempo in the second half but Norton were still dangerous on the counter attack and Matt K had to be at his best in the Collegians goal. Harvey got his first of the game when he latched onto a quickly taken throw in to smash the ball past the Norton keeper and this was quickly followed by Connor G completing his hat trick with another close range finish. Dan, Tom and Matt were all denied by the Norton keeper but he could do nothing about Harveys second when he fired an unstoppable shot in from outside the box. With seconds to go a great move down the left involving Charlie and Tom ended with Connor G adding a cute finish to give Collegians the 6-0 win.
FROME COLLEGIANS U9'S B 3-1 FROME TOWN SPORTS U9'S A
This was closely fought game with both teams playing some good football. With Joel S and Chase B both at their best in the Collegians defence this gave the rest of the team the confidence to push forward and this was rewarded when a good move between Aaron B and Aaron W found Cameron P and he finished past the advancing keeper. Collegians got their second when skipper Aaron W found himself one on one with the keeper and he slotted the ball cooly past him. Collegians could not afford to relax and Sports struck back with a bullet like shot that gave Dan R no chance in goal. The second half was much of the same and the Collegians midfield of Dylan C, Matt K and both the Aarons were playing superbly together and again this was rewarded when Aaron W was found on the right and his pin point cross found Matt K at the near post for him to header home for Collegians to claim the 3-1 win.
FROME COLLEGIANS U9'S C 3-1 FROME TOWN SPORTS U9'S B

Collegians continued to attack in the second half and Ben S got their second when his determination paid off and he scored to give Collegians a 2-1 lead but they were not done yet and Jacob D smashed the ball home from inside the box to give them a well deserved 3-1 win.

Despite leading 5-1 Collegians had to be aware of the Wells threat and the second half was a more tightly fought match with both teams attacking and leaving gaps at the back. Aaron B was non stop in the centre of the pitch making some timely tackles and setting up play but Wells got another back with a good finish. Again Collegians came right back when Cameron converted a penalty after Wells had handballed in the area but Wells kept going to get the score back to 6-3, but Collegians had the last word when Matt K found himself in the right place again and scored a near identical goal to his first to increase the lead for Collegians. Frome Collegians U9 A 6-0 Peasedown U9 A
Collegians dominated this game from the start with keeper Matt K having very little to do. Oli W was great at the back linking with the midfield and his partner Charlie S S was as dominant as ever making some crunching tackles. Skipper Dan R put collegians ahead after quick reactions allowed him to head home from close range and Harvey L doubled the lead with a neat finish. It was'nt long before Collegians had their third when Connor G stabbed home from close range. Matthew P was causing all sorts of problems up front and was unlucky not to find the net instead of the woodwork. Collegians continued to dominate the second half and Tom E was outstanding on the left hand side of midfield but was denied the goal that his play deserved by the post twice and the brave Peasedown keeper. A well worked corner allowed Connor G to smash home with a fine left foot finish and Collegians were dominating the centre of midfield with Dan R and Harvey L and this allowed Dan to grab his second and then his hat trick with a cheeky back heel into the bottom corner either side of Connors goal. Peasedown did not let their heads go down and battled on right up to the final whistle but this was to be comfortable day for Collegians with a 6-0 win.

Dylan C came on at half time and got a deserved goal when he finished from close range, then Aaron W and Morgan A both took it in turns to complete their hat tricks with two more goals apiece to give Collegians a well deserved 10-0 win.
Frome Collegians U9 C 1-1 Frome Town Sports U9 B
This was a much closer and end to end game than the first two and either team could have claimed victory. The Collegians midfield of William M, Bethany P and James M were battling well all game and skipper Thomas S was making some great tackles in defence alongside Dylan C. The sports defence were well organised and only a great curling shot from Aaron B broke the deadlock to send Collegians in 1-0 at half time. The second half started evenly but Sports got one back when the Collegians defence were caught out and they scored with an unstoppable shot. Collegians upped the tempo and Dylan C was pushed into midfield and it was his fantastic work on the left that led to a succession of chances for Collegians that with a bit more luck and composure could have won the game but it was not to be and the score finished 1-1
Frome Collegians Under 9sA 10-1 Wells City Under 9s
Due to previous arranged fixtures Wells visisted Frome with a weakened team which allowed Collegians to dominate the game. Collegians attacked from the start and were 2-0 up after 5 minutes with goals from Matt P and Connor G. Collegians continued to dominate and were playing some fine attacking football. Matt K was a near spectator in goal but was assured with his kicking and Charlie S S and Oli W were in control at the back. Skipper Dan R and Harvey L were dominant in the centre of midfield and Tom E was causing problems on the left and his good play allowed Harvey L to grab his first and Collegians third of the game. Collegians again increased their lead when Connor G and Matt P both grabbed their second goals with fine finishes. Wells were battling well and got one back before half time when a counter attack caught the Collegians defence on the back foot which allowed a long range effort to slip in. Collegians continued to dominate in the second half but Wells were frustating them with their work rate and the keeper was having a fine game making some good saves. It was only a matter of time until Collegians scored again and this came when Matt P superbly played Connor G in for him to grab his hat-trick with a smart finish past the keeper. Not to be out done Matt P completed his own hat-trick when he smashed one in from outside the box. Charlie S S was pushed into midfield and was making some fine tackles and this allowed Dan R the freedom to push forward and score from inside the box. Oli W was moved up front and a defence splitting pass from Connor G allowed him to cooly slot past the advancing keeper. Collegians had not finished yet and Harvey L fired a long range shot in that was to powerful for the keeper to hold to grab his second and Collegians tenth of the game. Collegians played well and deserved to win but would like to thank Wells for a battling performance.
Frome Collegians Under 9sC 0-0 Camley and Temple Under 9s
Collegians C team continued their impressive form this year and were unlucky not to win this fixture but had to settle for a 0-0 draw. This was a well contested and end to end game from the start with both teams battling well and trying to pass the ball. The first half saw Thomas S and skipper Dylan C both superb in defence making a number of fine tackles. James M was playing the holding role in front of the back two and as usual snuffed out a number of attacks. Jasper L and Jacob D were both working hard in midfield and William M was superb playing his first game since returning from injury. Bethany P was her usual non stop upfront and did not give the Camley defence a minutes rest and Matt K and Aaron W both came on at various stages and both showed their experience with good play. Despite chances for both teams the score remained 0-0 at half time. The second half was much the same as the first but Collegians were starting to dominate, though still had to be aware of the Camley threat. Beth P, William M, Matt K and Aaron all had chances that were either just wide or superbly saved by the Camley keeper. With minutes to go if the crowd had seats they would have been on the edge of them as both teams had more chances, these were not converted but both teams can be exceptionally proud of their commitment and attitude.
